Letter from the President:

Dear Nursing Students,

Hello! Your Oklahoma Nursing Student Association Board would like to extend a warm welcom to your ONSA Website.  Our Membership Director is working hard to learn about all you current and future nursing students and we hope that ONSA may be a stepping stone along your journey.

Nursing is one of the greatest jobs with so many opportunities.  You have nurses that are entrepreneurs, CEOs, business, recruiting, human resources, financial planning, and even politics.  A nursing career has the ability to open doors in so many arenas, a nurse can handle just about anything.  There's never been a greater time to be a nurse!!! As a nursing student it seems like we are grasping for anything to prepare us for the ever so unnerving NCLEX and methods to being a great nurse.

You can start at your school level utilizing your local Student Nurse Association, faculty, and peers.  Through my path with nursing school this has become a must in preparing for projects, case studies, and exams.

At the state level you have your Oklahoma Nursing Student Association, which is a part of the National State Nursing Association.  ONSA provides great opportunities to look further into your future.  The ability to clarify unclear subject matter with Breakout Sessions at the Annual Convention and Spring Breakouts, just let us know what is important to you.  Another great opportunity ONSA provides for the nursing students of Oklahoma is the ability to visit with local, regional, and national Hospitals and Specialties during the ONSA Annual Convention.

Don't forget about Legislative Day: Nurses Day at the Capital.  Oklahoma Nursing Association hosts a day for all current and future nurses to learn about the legislative process and what this means to us practicing in the great State of Oklahoma.

National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) is a student lead organization made up of over 60,000 student nurses across the United States.  There is a plethra of information and resources available to you on their website www.nsna.org and greatest part of all, when you become a member of NSNA you automatically are a member of ONSA.  How great is that? We all can appreciate great deals.

The benefits from being an active part of your SNA, ONSA, and NSNA are immense and offers many rewards throughout your learning experience.  We all know that it takes more these days to be a good nurse.  You need continuous growth to succeed in this field.  I encourage everyone to go out there and be active in your chapters, get involved, ask questions, apply for leadership, and you will reap the seeds you sow.

Best Regards, Tiffany Richardson, President Oklahoma Nursing Student Association
